Guess who got her reader this week?  I am loving hearing Maddie sound out letters, trying to spell words, reciting her vowels and consonants.   Her Spelling Test is tomorrow and we have been writing, reading, and spelling the below words in the story like crazy.  I will keep my fingers crossed she does well!

 

Watching Maddie do her math and reading the Reader reminds me of when Abby was in Mrs. Colleen's class.  With the addition problems they circle the larger number, "put that number in their hand, make a fist, then put the fist on top of your head".  Then use the fingers on other hand for smaller number.  Maddie says four in my head and add 2 equals 6!  As far as reading it's really just repetition and trying to put pictures to the story to help remember information. 

So far Maddie seems to be hanging in there, we have had some tough times but Mrs. Colleen "isn't a meanie anymore" and she is starting to get used to being in big girl school.  She still misses Kidz Klub House, her teachers, all the snacks, lots of outside play time, longer nap times, etc.
