See you in a year....

Yesterday Gerald and I took Maddie for her CT Scan and X-Ray then appointment with Neurosurgeon Dr. Bui. Both scans are very scary for a child and we opted no anesthesia....she did fabulous and was a real trooper.

Dr. Bui said Maddie looked great, as long as she is meeting her milestones and there are no concerns we can see him in a year! The only real concern is her downward gaze and there is nothing we can really do about that except try to train her to use her eyes to look up (not raise her head). Her Occupational Therapist saw her for the last time this morning and said she is doing so great but she suggested we put Maddie in a more preschool setting versus a daycare setting. She needs to be challenged more and she is capable of this.

Gerald and I were talking on the way home that we were presented the option of terminating the pregnancy due to the hydrocephalus diagnosis. We remembered looking at pictures on the internet and reading about the condition and feeling so torn and helpless. Everything was so negative and hope seemed to be minimal. Well thank God we made the decision to welcome Maddie because I am not sure what I would do without this dear, sweet child. She is a blessing to us!!
